  • What is C@H?
It is a semi-regular gathering opportunity where we move Sunday church from the tent to other, small locations.
  • What happens at C@H?
As the name suggests, C@H is church, but in a smaller gathering. However, the goal is not to recreate a corporate Sunday service in a living room. Church means “a gathering of believers,” and C@H allows this to happen in a more intentional format. C@H may include aspects of a typical church service, such as worship, teaching, and ministry—but it doesn’t have to. Here are some additional elements that can be part of C@H: Food Fellowship Intentional Questions Bible Study Testimonies Prayer Kids’ Activities
  • How often does C@H occur?
Typically, about 3 to 4 times per year. We try to give a few months notice of any upcoming C@H.
  • Where does C@H happen?
As the name suggests, typically at a host home. However, a host could choose any reasonable location (e.g. park, cafe, etc.) Corporate church will not happen as per usual in the tent when we have C@H.
  • What does it mean to "bring something"?
According to the Bible, everyone in the body of Christ has something of value to contribute. Whether small or large, significant or seemingly insignificant, everyone can show up with a level of intentionality to give and to receive. (1 Cor. 14:26-27) This doesn't mean you have any leadership responsibilities. Examples could look like... If C@H is a potluck, provide a meaningful food item if you can If you love to worship, bring a heart of praise If you are an encourager, speak life and be curious to meet new friends If you love to pray, be willing to ask God to bless others If you love fun or fellowship, consider helping create an opportunity
  • What is C@H Camping Weekend?
It's like any other C@H; however we encourage people engage in something intentional with the outdoors, if possible. It could be an actual camping excursion at a destination, but doesn't need to be. Some advance planning and reservations may be required depending on where you choose to go. Some hosts have simply gathered around a fire pit, camped in their backyard, while others have had a BBQ or an outdoor movie.
  • What about guests at C@H?
C@H is a great way to welcome guests into the community. Many people may feel more comfortable attending a living room gathering before going to a church service. Of course, always ensure the host is comfortable with the invited guests.
  • What does it mean to host a C@H?
Hosting has two primary functions... 1) A place (location) to gather 2) A primary person to lead (facilitate) the gathering These functions can be done by the same person or separate people. You may have a home to meet at but don't want to take the lead, no worries, partner with a friend who is willing and able.
  • Who is able to host a C@H?
Anyone could host/lead a C@H, and we encourage COTR members to consider being willing to do so. However, we will only sanction a C@H with a host/lead team who has completed our Cultivate Growth Track class and completed the necessary volunteer approval process; including a background check. Therefore, we will only suggest a guest attend a sanctioned C@H.
  • What does it mean to co-host?
We love team. We value sharing the load, unifying, and working within our unique gifts. Therefore, co-hosts come alongside hosts/leads to support various aspects of a C@H. Including but not limited to... Leading praise & worship Teaching Facilitating Prayer Activity time Food Etc.
  • What resources are available to hosts?
Resources and support we currently have available for C@H host includes: C@H Host Support Page C@H Devotional Page C@H Host Trainings (date TBD) COTR Pathways courses
