Every year we take some time here at Church on the Rock to set our hearts and faces toward the Lord through prayer and fasting. This gives us time to realign our lives to all that God has called us to in the coming year. Fasting increases our capacity to connect with him because distractions are removed and our awareness is heightened. As we focus on this iconic passage that Paul wrote to the Ephesians, ask for insight and wisdom from the Lord beyond anything you have seen before.

Ephesians 6:10-18a “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.”

What we do here on earth during our lifetime is so important, and this passage carries keys to us impacting the kingdom of heaven for eternity. We have an adversary that wants to steal, kill, and destroy us, and we can only devastate his schemes when we stand firm and girded up with the armor of God! You will notice that none of the armor Paul mentions in this passage covers the back of you. We are called to hold our ground and fight our battles head on, not run and retreat, and God gave us this armor so we could do it! Not to mention we also have the King of Heaven and Earth going before us, behind us, and beside us. Dive in with us and pray through each piece of the armor this week! There’s absolutely no battle we can’t win when we’re operating in them the way God designed us to!
