1 Corinthians 12:27 “Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in the church; first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that, miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.”
Briefly mentioned in this list of spiritual gifts is the gift of “helps.” This gift could be defined as anything that helps the work of the church flourish and move forward. I personally think that more people operate in this gift than any other. Far from being the least of the gifts, the Bible is clear that each of the gifts, including the gift of helps, is equally needed and equally rewarded. We have people being used in the gift of helps in every ministry of our church. The gift of helps is a tremendous gift because it reflects the very heart of Jesus.
Are you gifted in this way?
Some questions that might bring clarity are:
Do I like to serve “behind the scenes”?
Does this kind of serving bring me joy?
Do I see needs that others pass over and find fulfillment in meeting them?
Do I love to support leaders so they can focus on prayer, teaching and ministry?
Drilling community wells is part of COTR’s ministry to Peru. This is one example of the ministry of helps that provides a vital, practical need for the Peruvian people and opens up many hearts to receive the even more vital need of the living water, the Word of Salvation through Jesus Christ. Should you decide to donate toward a well and/or go on a drilling team, this will put a cup of cold water in a villager’s hand.
Prayer Point:
Pray for the well drilling to be a powerful and effective tool for the gospel.
